A fantastic course running from St Nicholas Park next to Warwick Castle and finishing in the castle grounds of Kenilworth Castle. I’m not going to lie, the race was absolute HELL! Despite the relatively early race start the race was ‘blessed’ with blazing sunshine and resultantly scorching temperatures. I spent my race puffing, panting, craving the finish line throughout and even going out of my way to run in the shade wherever possible.

Whilst I’d expected an improved race time from the Lincoln 10k, I was almost certain whilst running that I wouldn’t have beaten my Lincoln time; the course was simply too hilly and too hot… but then again it was the same for everyone! Somehow I managed to wangle my way into 106th putting me in the top 6.3%! Additionally having not seen Mr. H. Lancashire all race (having lost him at the start line) I finished less than 30 seconds behind, a fantastic improvement since the Shakespeare Half. This was also the onset of a new goal… BEAT THE BUGGER!
