What?! No Pictures?! It’s a crowded event and Emma (who had come to watch and support) wasn’t able to get any photos, the official race photos were simply overpriced.

The Lincoln 10k Road Race 2007 was the anniversary of my ‘return’ to ‘competitive’ running, the first chance to directly compare how much I’d improved by over the course of the year... or so I thought! It wasn’t until the few days leading up to the race that I realised the course had changed, d’oh! It was still run in the same area, and using many of the same roads, just in a very different order.

Perhaps I should’ve taken the time to write about this event sooner rather than later. I have a vague memory of the race, it was very crowded in the first mile or so but evened out later on. The race went smoothly and from 9k onwards you can see the cathedral up ahead, a magnificent sight, and even more so when you know the finish is just around the corner from it!

I finished without a clue what my time was, I knew it was quicker than last year as the clock showed around the 45min mark by the time I’d collected my medal. Later that day the preliminary results were available, and I’d managed to knock 3 minutes off last years’ time. Having finished last year in 45:49, my target was to reach sub 40mins, but I was never sure if that’d be 2007, 2008 or when. Now I’m feeling quite confident that sub 40mins for 2008 could well be achievable.
